For years, King's Quest was the "forbidden fruit" for C64 kids like me. Sierra On-Line famously refused to port Roberta Williams' masterpiece to the Commodore 64, claiming the VIC-II chip's color clashing couldn't handle the art style.
While I was stuck with blocky graphics, Tandy 1000 owners were exploring Daventry in glorious 16-color TGA graphics and 3-voice sound. 40 years later, I finally got my hands on a Tandy 1000 SX to experience the game the way Sierra intended.
