What happens when you dig into a batch of 40-year-old unlabelled floppy disks? You catch a massive retro gaming mystery completely live on real hardware.
In this Director's Cut from our latest livestream, we run into a major puzzle right off the bat: a disk clearly labeled "Marble Madness" that loads up something completely different. To find out what’s actually on that floppy, we have to dig deep into the collection, battle a finicky 1541 disk drive, and cross our fingers that the PAL/NTSC compatibility doesn't tank the whole evening.
Along the way, we revisit some absolute classic Commodore 64 memories, test out some blind requests from the chat crew, and experience a few loading screen disasters.
👾 Games & Beats in this Deep Dive:
The Mystery Opener: Is it Marble Madness... or Gyroscope?
Dawn Patrol: Stumbling through a classic submarine simulator completely blind.
GoBots: The ultimate 1980s Transformer competitor—but how does it control?
1541 Troubleshooting: Real hardware, real problems (and the dirty head saga).
Paradroid: Giving a proper shoutout to Oswaldo with an all-time C64 favorite.
Magic Johnson’s Basketball: A complete gameplay disaster (the ball moves like a rock).
Pipe Dream: Getting on a serious roll with a basic but addictive puzzle classic.
The Emotional Close: Experiencing the legendary SID chip magic of Master of the Lamps.
Out Now:
Keep an eye out for our next full-length, long-form video where we leave the 8-bit era behind and dive headfirst into Wing Commander III! Make sure your notifications are turned on so you don't miss it.
