System 3 brought tournament karate worldwide. Eight global locations from Sydney to New York to Tokyo. Rob Hubbard's SID chip masterpiece made every impact brutal.
Data East sued Epyx claiming it was a Karate Champ clone. The district court agreed. But Epyx appealed and won. The Ninth Circuit ruled you can't copyright a concept. Gaming history was made on a floppy disk.
Before Street Fighter II, before Mortal Kombat fatalities, there was International Karate. Breaking boards with your head. Frame-perfect roundhouse kicks. Pure timing. Pure discipline.
